Drawing a semi-realistic a zebra finch
I love half cartooning some sketches!!
First and foremost, of course the outline!
The face is the first part i always work on. Usually male zebra finches have a dark cap and a lighter head
Start shading in the body and blending. Zebra finches are very smooth birds so there will likely not be a lot of detailing. Remember that the back is darker then the head and the bottom flights will likely be almost black. A lot of zebra finches also have lacing in the wings( white outlines) Also remember the rump is ALWAYS white on a normal zebra
Add color! for the cheeks, color is almost hard to get. In quick lines, put a few streaks of orange, and a few streaks of light brown. The beak will be red and the legs will be red in the middle with orange toes and edges.
i am a FIRM believer in BLENDING, BLEND BLEND!!! The flanks will also be a chestnut brown.
Add the final touches and detailing and the final picture should be something like this. in my case, Lux has a bit of brown on his back(because he is split to fawn) So the back actually has brown in it(though it's hard to see).
I'm to lazy to resize all of them as it takes a ton of time. here are the links in order!
